eleven colon eleven

i've been quite curious about this 11:11 thing for quite a while. but i only just bothered to figure out whats that its about. at first it seems real good, giving people encouragement and stuff. i'm not sure how many people i know subscribe to this or how many even know how this has come about and how it is what it is now but i see alot of people talking about it.

read it here. if you want.

firstly, i wanna say i do encounter this alot. especially at work. but. the thing is. i look at the clock all the time. so it doesn't hit me like a brick when it happens. i just go "ey cool". now throw in the claim that there's 1,111 spiritual beings involved, it sounds like a really elaborate april fool's prank gone terribly wrong.

basically, this george guy receives spiritual guidance from these 1,111 beings during these seemingly coincidental times. its been going on for 60 years. he records it down and somehow ends up in your inbox. he claims that everyone can receive this guidance from these beings through a "fragment of god" that exists in every human being. and they have "proof" for all these things.

i, personally, am very skeptical. not because i don't believe in spiritual stuff. i am a christian. i am proud of it. and i believe there is only one way to God's heart and that is Jesus Christ the Saviour who died for the sins of the world, defeated the devil and rose again. and the Holy Spirit guides us. not 1,111 spirits floating around watching you cos heaven too crowded so not enough harps to play.

this stuff is really preachy and churchy. it does have a 'feel good' message. only that it came from an 'angel' you never knew existed.

and the proof? i think if you can prove the existence of God, you're on the wrong channel. cos the point of faith is believing in something that cannot be proven. if God wanted to prove that he exists, He could just appear. then faith would be redundant. i know God exists because He has worked in my life. only that he doesn't have to show me what time it is cos He is working everywhere and everytime. and even though this thing claims to be from "the almighty god", i know the Word of God says never to use the name of the Lord your God in vain. even if its a good encouraging statement. if its not really from God, don't say its from Him.

i can't help but feel alot of people are in danger of falling into this. even fellow christians. its easy to wait for an email, read, feel shiok then read the next one because it feels shiok. the devil is smart. he works subtly, warping the truth slowly. and then one day you will doubt the Truth, that is the Word of God.

the best explanation for this phenomenon being more common nowadays is this - the earth's population is growing. so the chances of it happening also rises with it. the introduction of digital clocks and watches also makes it easier to tell the time. new technology in portable devices also allow people to record these experiences down wherever they are on the spot. don't you think thats enough?

so next time, if you see a nice number on the clock, its not because a thousand spirits are asking you to buy 4d. but its because that really is just the time.
